Senator Tim Kaine brings health care message to the area

Many people know Senator Tim Kaine as Hillary Clinton’s running mate during the 2016 Presidential Election. The Harvard graduate is also the former chair of the Democratic National Committee, a distinguished lawyer and served as Virginia’s Governor from 2006 to 2010.

The senator joined fellow Virginians on the campus of Roanoke College Saturday, July 22 for a health care rally in defense of patient protection and the Affordable Care Act. Continue reading Senator Tim Kaine brings health care message to the area

“A lot of talented musicians on stage putting on a great show as people danced and had a good time,” is how George Fintel describes the first Jazz in July event he attended. “It was 2002 and I was a high school sophomore. I vividly remember how much fun people had.”

Last Saturday George, now married with three children, took his entire family for the first time to Longwood Park to also experience Jazz in July.

Roanoke Links honor women veterans

Six women veterans, all of whom served in various capacities of the Armed Forces, were honored earlier this summer by the Roanoke Chapter of the Links, Inc.

The honorees were nominated as “Sheroes,” a Links, Inc. campaign to spotlight members from all branches of the U.S. military and share the history of African-American women who have served our country. Continue reading Roanoke Links honor women veterans

Among Webster’s many definitions of the word tests we find, “critical observation, examination or evaluation; a process which will lead to proof or disproof, acceptance or rejection of any given thing or theory; or a means of measuring knowledge, intelligence, skill or any number of other things–including loyalty, as seems paramount among our current President and White House staff, so grossly affecting the nation as a whole.
