The Altruist Club of Roanoke hosted its 61st Debutante Ball on Sunday, Dec. 28 in the grand ballroom of the Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center. More than 400 people attended the event in which eight area high school young ladies participated.
Aaliyah Shemae Gray, a senior at Northside High School, was crowned 2014 Debutante Queen. She is the daughter of Anthony and Jamay Gray of Roanoke. New Horizons Healthcare announces the Opening of New Horizons Dental Care After fourteen years in business providing affordable primary health care options to the Roanoke community, Eileen Lepro, chief executive officer of New Horizons Healthcare announces that the health center has expanded its services to include New Horizons Dental Care. The clinic is currently open five days a week, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and will begin offering limited Saturday hours later this year. New Horizons Dental Care employs a complete dental team to provide services, including three part-time dentists, a registered dental hygienist, dental assistants, and front office staff. At its Executive Committee meeting on Saturday, Jan. 3, the NAACP appointed Rodney B. Thomas as its Legislative Representative (lobbyist).
Mr. Thomas comes to the VSC NAACP with over 40 years of business, governmental fund development and legislative experience. Additionally, he is the senior managing partner of Resources Building Tomorrow, llc, a consulting firm. As such, not only will the VSC NAACP get the experience and expertise of Mr. Thomas additionally, he has stated that his associates will also be available to assist in his lobbying efforts on behalf of the Virginia State Conference NAACP and its unit offices.
