Several of the 28 members of Women United for Community Action (WUCA) were present to accept the NAACP 2014 Award presented in appreciation of the group’s support. State Representative Sam Rasoul, (pictured left) congratulated and praised the group’s efforts.

The Roanoke Chapter of the Girl Friends welcomes Saundra Fenner Butcher. The installation ceremony took place on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Holiday Inn, Ordway. The Roanoke Chapter is one of 47 chapters nationally located throughout the United States. Janice Burk (left) is president of the local chapter. Over 350 delegates from throughout the state gathered last week at the Annual Conference of the Virginia Recreation and Park Society (VRPS) at The Homestead in Hot Springs, VA.
