The Roanoke Chapter of Bluefield State Alumni held its Recognition Banquet at the Holiday Inn on Ordway on September 7 with Alumni National President Audramae Williams as the guest speaker. She was introduced by her husband Minister Ray Williams, Jr., who reminded the audience to support the HBCU by donating atleast $250.00 per year. The National President gave an excellent speech on “Unsung Heroes and Heroines.”
Roanoke Chapter President Dr. John W. Vernon, Jr. presented “Certificates of Recognition” and a Medal with Bluefield State Emblem with their engraved names in the back to the following members who have been faithful been for at least 10 years. A plaque for beyond duties such as outstanding community work, humanitarian giving, authorship, or 25 years President of the organization were also given. The people pictured received are awards recipients (with the except of the local president).
