We are all born free—although under different circumstances that may not be. It is these circumstances that greatly influence the attitudes that determine the ”boxes” in which we ultimately find ourselves throughout life.
There are religious boxes; racial boxes, academic, affluent and poverty boxes—and the beat goes on…and on. But the one with the greatest stronghold is of the mind. “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.” ~Prov. 23:7
There are masters of manipulation that can play on any of these multiple “boxes,” often recognized as prejudices whether overt or covert with the subliminal ones the most detrimental.
Racism, once blatantly reinforced by substantiating laws much easier to recognize and overturn legally, is now being fed through multi-medias in spoons that even the victims love, enjoy and capitalize on. Boxes make insecure people more willing to explore possibilities when the playing field is reduced and is the incubator of wounded egos, better known as “the prison of self.”
“O children of men! Know ye not why We created you all from the same dust?” we read from the most recent Manifestation of the same God of Abraham, Moses, Christ and Muhammad, each thousands of years apart with prescriptions for a progressively maturing mankind. (Applicable to the exigencies of each era) “That no one should exalt himself over the other. Ponder at all times in your hearts how ye were created!”
Another passage even reflects the dust addressing mankind in such matter: Consider me, how I allow myself to be trodden under the foot of man and beast, considered to be the lowest form of matter. Yet everything on earth came from me, will return to me in some form and is totally dependent upon me in between.
It should be becoming more obvious that whatever “box” we may find ourselves in is actually self-imposed if in fact, as one thinketh so is he. We must then stop finding excuses (the crutches that weak people lean on), something or someone else to blame for our plight.
Humanity is not perfect. There are imperfections in every human being and we will always become unhappy if you look toward the imperfections of people and ourselves!
Look instead toward the Creator of us all and try dedicating our contributions and services to Him. Then the reactions of others or the results are far more acceptable.
It all begins with “As a man thinketh, which determines how one acts, that determines the standards of one’s life–regardless of circumstances once we’re “Out of the box!”
