The Roanoke Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will present its annual fundraiser, the Miss Jabberwock 2015 Pageant, on Friday, May 1, at 8:00 p.m. in the Jefferson Center’s Shaftman Hall.
Diane Jones, president of the local chapter, is proud to present the following contestants from across the valley, the schools they attend and their parents:
Kendra Corpening, William Fleming High School, parent, Kim Corpening; Sydnee Evans, North Cross High School, parents, Dwayne F. and Dr. Deneen Evans; Brooke Gray, William Byrd High School, parents, Terri and Melvin Gray; Monica Hackett, Patrick Henry High School, parent, Tracey Hackett-Brookins; Ruth Payne, William Fleming High School, parent, Frederica Payne, and Kai Washington-Brown, William Fleming High School; parents: Johnny and Quo Vadis Brown.
In anticipation of the 2015 Jabberwock’s theme, Delta’s Arts & Letters Commission Chair, Laurice Hampton, escorted Sierra Brown, Miss Jabberwock 2014, to the Opera of Roanoke’s production of Cinderella and attended the movie Cinderella with three of the 2015 contestants.
This year’s theme is “Noelle” based upon Disney’s Cinderella. The creative Jabberwock director, Greg Addison of Hair Attitudes, will present a production that will entertain and keep the story alive in our hearts and minds.
An exciting pre-show will begin at 7:45 p.m. and the contestants, escorts and cast will take the stage at 8:00 p.m.
As a special feature, 31 Jabberwock Kids, under the direction of choreographer, Cora Carpenter will be performing in the show.
Tickets at $20.00 per may be purchased from any of the contestants, any member of the local chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., or from Hair Attitudes. Tickets will also be available the night of the event.
