“Injustice Anywhere is a Threat to Justice Everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly.” Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s 1963 “Letter from a Birmingham Jail” quote.
The Roanoke Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) in partnership with The Roanoke Branch National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) held a successful joint Prayer Vigil of Love, Peace, Unity, and Justice in memory of George Floyd and all those murdered on Saturday, June 6, in front of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial on 1st St. NW.
The Roanoke Chapter SCLC President, Dr. Perneller L. Chubb-Wilson, and the Roanoke Branch NAACP President, Dr. Brenda L. Hale, with their officers, boards, and members, appreciate all participants and attendees!
