The Roanoke NAACP Youth Council will present its 8th annual “Impactors of Excellence Awards” in a virtual program on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 4:00 pm.
The youth council members are honoring eleven African American leaders in the Roanoke Valley who have made a positive impact on the lives of youth and others in the Roanoke Community.
The 2021 honorees are: Sheriff Tim Allen, recently retired from the Roanoke Sheriff Dept; Cochise Bryant, Entrepreneur and living kidney donor, Warren Craft, WFHS Asst. Basketball & Football Coach/Mentor; La’Shay Foreman, RCPS Counselor, Hurt Park Elementary; Dr. Marylen Harmon, Retired Educator/Community Activist; Robert Jeffrey, Roanoke City Councilman and owner of Colors magazine; Dr. Robert R. Johnson, Division Dean of Students Montgomery County Public Schools; Angela Penn, Lead Teen Advisor, Jack and Jill and VP, Real Estate Development RRHA; Gloria Randolph-King, Retired principal/youth leader; Donna Robinson; Director, Café Arts Center; and Robin Thorpe, RCPS fifth grade teacher/Lincoln Terrace Elementary.
This is the annual fundraiser and the youth are soliciting donations to support training and other program expenses. Normally an offering is taken and in the past the community has been very generous. This year, since the program is virtual, donations are asked to be sent to PO. Box. 123462 Roanoke, VA 24025
The youth will be in charge of the program and will serve as MC presenters, and program participants. Entertainment will be provided by the outstanding WFHS/PHHS Gospel Choir, Christion Bryant and due to COVID 19 restrictions, this program will be virtual.
