The Roanoke Chapter Continental Societies, Inc. culminated their Holiday Healthy Snacks Program on Friday, May 8, by delivering the healthy snacks to the Noah–Christian Academy and the Northwest Child Development Center.
All year long the health committee, chaired by Continental Patricia Baker, has supplied both facilities with monthly holiday healthy snacks and bottles of water.
Continentals Donna Lee, Barbara Brooks and Hazel Jones shared books about The Mother’s Day Holiday origin and other Mother’s Day books that the children enjoyed hearing from their reading buddies. In addition, Roanoke’s own author, Carolyn D. Crenshaw had autographed and sent with a message her own newly published book entitled “Are You Mitch?” to add to the schools’ libraries.
The local chapter had also adopted First Lady, Michelle Obama’s initiatives for fighting childhood obesity. It included healthy eating, drinking more water and hope to get on board next year with her new initiative, “Let’s Move.”
