On Monday, June 8, at 7:00 p.m. the Friends of the Roanoke Symphony will present its 28th year of the Student Musicale at High Street Baptist Church, 2302 Florida Ave.
This program is the culminating activity for scholarship students to work with professional teachers and mentors during the year on various compositions.
The Friends raise monies through various fund raising activities and with the support of parents churches and the community at large. Donations are graciously accepted as well.
This year nine students will be performing. David Stewart Wiley, the conductor of the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra will again serve as mentor and accompanist.
DeVonte’ Saunders a former student will be a guest soloist. DeVonte’ is now a student at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond majoring in vocal music.
Devin Arrington a recent Patrick Henry graduate and former member of the Youth Symphony Orchestra and student representative on the RSO Board will also be participating on the program.
