The Roanoke Chapter Continental Societies, Inc. finalized this year’s mentoring program for members of the Continental Angels Club with a Bowling Party at Hill Top Lanes on, June 5. All the members were clad in their Continental Angels t-shirts. Chapter members wore their t-shirts, also.
The Continental Angels Club was reorganized in May 2014 with 18 girls, aged 6 to 17 and met on the fourth Saturday of each month at the Lansdowne Community Center from 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. Each month, committee members from each Continental facet presented programs on a rotational basis.
The Health Committee shared facts about healthy eating, exercising, asthma and practicing good dental health. All members were given toothbrushes and toothpaste during Dental Health Month.
The Education Committee started the Angels Book Club inspiring the girls to read books of interest and to write about their reactions to the authors. Several of the middle school members attended the “Save the Next Girl Program” at Tanglewood Mall.
The Employment Committee Members shared their own job experiences with the girls and entertained questions. A Career Fair will be held next year.
The Recreation Committee sponsored the skating party in October, and the bowling party last week.
The Arts and Humanities Committee coordinated the girls’ attendance at the “Scrooge” Production at the Berglund Performing Arts Center.
Continentals QuoVadis Washington-Brown and Donna W. Lee are co-chairpersons for the Continental Angels Club, Gloria Randolph-King is chapter president.
