The Roanoke NAACP Youth Council held its annual election virtually on Sunday, April 23, and new officers for 2023-2024 were elected. The Nominating Committee under the guidance of Co-Advisor, Lorena Wilson, presented a challenging slate of officers and the electronic election went smoothly. The officers were installed on Sunday, July 9, at the Historic Lawson Building.
The Roanoke NAACP Youth Council is proud to present to the community its esteemed 2023-2024 Executive Committee leaders, a group of passionate and dedicated young adults committed to promoting equality, justice, and positive change within their community.
The newly elected officers 2023-2024 are: President-Olivia Davoll, Senior, Northside HS; 1st Vice President-Christian Burnette, Sophomore, Patrick Henry HS; 2nd Vice President-Sanaia Bryant, Junior, William Fleming HS; Secretary- Paris Scott, rising 8th Grader at Northside Middle School; Assistant Secretary, Maya West, Senior, William Fleming HS; Returning as Treasurer, Simone Bryant, Junior, William Fleming HS; Advisor-Gloria Randolph-King; 1st Co-Advisor, Lorena Wilson; and 2nd Co-Advisor Dawn Bryant. Councilwoman Trish White Boyd delivered the Oath of Office and presided over the ceremony. Councilwoman Boyd’s presence and support will further strengthen the Council’s resolve to achieve its goal. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Councilwoman Trish White-Boyd for her gracious presence and encouragement during our installation of officers.
Committee chairs and assistant officers will be appointed at the next meeting to complete the Executive Committee. Many thanks are given to all of the past faithful chapter chairpersons and members for their dedicated service and commitment.
The Roanoke Youth Council meets the 2nd and 4th Sundays of every month, with exceptions for holidays at 6 p.m. in the Lawson Building (401 Gainesboro Road). New members are always welcome to join.
