Jonathan Vernon III, Salem High School, Class of 2023, has received numerous scholarships to assist with his future college education. As a student, Johnathan achieved a grade point average of 3.9 and will be attending James Madison University with a goal of majoring in Civil engineering.
Johnathan was a member of the Spartans State Championship Football Team; 1st Team All-District and Region as a Wide Receiver and Defensive Back; 2nd Team All-State for Defensive Back; 2-time State Champion in Track in the 4×100 and 4×200; and 1-time National Champion in Track for the 4×200 Relay Team.
His scholarship awards include $1000.00 from the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Virginia (MWPHGLVA) under the leadership of Grand Master Donald Wilson; $1000.00 from the Virginia Counsel of Deliberations (32/33 Degree Prince Hall Masons); $1000.00 Sinkler Scholarship from Shiloh Baptist Church; $1000.00 Spurlock Scholarship from Shiloh Baptist Church; $1000.00 Enos Glaspie Scholarship from Shiloh Baptist; $500.00 Scholarship from Aladdin Shrine Temple #111; $500.00 Scholarship from Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; and $250.00 Scholarship from the Knights of Pythagoras (KOP) E.S. Brown #2 Parent Group,
Jonathan served as Master Knight at local Prince Hall Masonic Youth Group Knights of Pythagoras (KOP) E.S. Brown #2 and as an officer for the Virginia KOP led by State Director Carl Albritten.
The Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Virginia, Prince Hall Masons, strongly believe that our youth are the future for our community and country and we want to develop and support them in entering our society.
