The Roanoke Chapter Continental Societies, Inc. held its monthly meeting on Saturday, April 19, in the Pine Room of Hotel Roanoke.
The celebration luncheon was held for the 60th Anniversary (April 3, 1965).
The Continentals are a non-profit, public service organization that focuses attention on children/youth and their needs. Goals are accomplished through the HEER Plus Arts and Humanities components. These basic components stand for Health, Education, Employment, Recreation Plus Arts and Humanities.
Fundraisers are held to give scholarships to deserving high school seniors. The Continentals also have an Endowed Scholarship Fund at Virginia Western Community College. Each year, The Mid-Atlantic Region donates funds to send a child to camp at Apple Ridge Farm.
The 60th Anniversary Gala is planned for this fall. Bethanie Mickles, Esq. is president; Donna Lee, chapter historian.
