Revolutions are not limited to violent conflicts. A Revolution is any action designed, or augurs, to effect fundamental changes in a nation’s political system or principal ruler.
Did the November 4, 2025, election outcomes reflect the disposition of a nation that has become disenchanted with Trumpists’ deplorable behaviors, or the result of suasion of politically responsible strategies by the loyal opposition – termed Democrats?
If the latter, are the campaign “promises” buttressed with orchestrated plans to ensure that new, or newly reelected, leaders will put America back on the road to fulfill the founders’ “Dream” for American Democracy, rather than more dependence on people’s Detrimental Reliance – e.g., overpromising but underdelivering?
We are about a year away from the crucial 2026 midterms, and three years from the 2028 presidential election. Failure in 2026 will make 2028 possibly too late.
If the Democrats are indeed John Adams’s Friends Of The Constitution, the 2026 Midterm elections will purge even more of Trumps cultists from his DC-fectas, especially the US Senate and the US House; the final eviction of Fascists from the “White House” will be dated November 7, 2028; and we citizens will persevere in exercising of our civic responsibilities after the 2029 inauguration.
Note Well: Trump garnered 14.3 million more votes in 2024 than his 2016 total despite his despicable actions as president; his loss in 2020; his fomentation of the Coup d’état attempt in 2021; and his clear indication that he would transform America into a Fascist nation if “reinstated.” Trump’s vote gain was a result of the Trumpists’ unwavering focus on their single agenda: to achieve a Trump Monarchy.
The greatest triumphs acquired and retained – whether by good or evil people, for beneficent or maleficent purposes — were not achieved by a sudden, direct action; but by the victors working relentlessly in the night, while their adversaries slept. (From Longfellow)
Leaders and members of all parties can state legitimately that America is seriously flawed. However, when party loyalists simply lay the blame on the other parties, as they do with a maniacal vehemence during political campaigns, they are committing an egregious failure that maintains the status quo, keeps the career politicians in their seats, and continues the degradation of America.
In recent years, the Republican Party has taken advantage of America’s flawed state to capture control of the country; and the Radical Right Extremist component has taken control the Republican party. While Trumpists are correct about the issues obstructing democratic progress, they are wrong about solutions. Indeed, they have no intention of fostering improvement in the incapacitating conditions — they profit from them. On the other hand, “Yellow Dog Democrats” have an equal part in leadership failure. The major parties’ stands have become absolutes. To them, bipartisan cooperation that is effective and perseverant beyond rhetoric is not compromise; it is treason. Jefferson called this two party schism:” … the greatest political evil under our constitution.”
Political Statesmanship – patriotism over party label — is fundamental for remediation of national imperfections. However, the leadership ethos of the two major parties, whereby moral political statesmanship has given way to “obdurate partisan politics” — principally embodied in and led by the President — now demands an open espousal of a duplicitous, political pomposity that drives deeper, warring divisions among the various population groupings.
Both major parties have had ample time and opportunities to remedy the deficiencies the founders outlined. Since our founding, there have been 26 Republican Presidents and 20 Democratic Presidents.
Into this lethal mix of neglect of Democratic Principles, we must add the American People. Of the two principal requisites for a legitimate, enduring, progressive democracy — knowledgeable, involved, citizens, broadly representative of the entire population — ideally second, is now primary. Voting, involved citizenry prevents oppressive, negligent political systems, and, thus, is the most crucial lever for the salvation of American Democracy.
Involved citizenry supersedes the other principal requisite — moral, ethical, and competent leaders at every governing level, preferably first — by a significant degree.
The people’s eviction of our current despotic rulers requires a four-step process: 1. “We The People” must give “legal” notice with the 2025 elections (done); 2. we must increase the turnout rate in the 2026 midterms; 3. we must enlarge the turnout rate in the 2028 general election; and, 4. leaders must generate perseverant citizen involvement after the January 20, 2029, inauguration — the missing key reason status quo-changing “revolutions” fail.
The definitive, perpetual problem of American democracy is the citizen who does not understand the cumulative power of individual votes; who thinks that one person cannot make a difference; who recognizes no relationship between his/her citizenship duties and governments’ decisions; and, who fails to vote, as 111 million self-disenfranchisers decided to do last fall, which led directly to Trump’s reelection.
