Postmaster LaRue V. Dickerson announced his departure of Roanoke Postmaster effective May 30. Dickerson will transition from the Roanoke Valley Postmaster to a Manager Post Office of Operations (MPOO) for the district of Alabama/Mississippi.
Dickerson is the son of Larue and Cheryl Dickerson of Roanoke. He attended Roanoke Catholic School and Roanoke City public schools (Pluto, Aerospace program, Partners for Success, and Business program). He attended Norfolk State and participated in the band.
In May of 2025, Dickerson took the official oath of Postmaster and served in that position for several months. During his leadership, the post office received several awards.
