Fenner Eaddy, featured performer in this month’s production of 42nd Street at Mill Mountain Theatre, held master classes and lectures for young people in Roanoke on December 8, 14 and 16.
The Roanoke Chapter, The Links, Inc. coordinated with Roanoke City Schools and CAFÉ Kids to bring Eaddy into Patrick Henry and William Fleming high schools, James Madison Middle School and CAFÉ, where he conducted dance classes and gave inspiring talks to theater and dance classes, and to students at CAFÉ.
Eaddy—an actor, singer, dancer and songwriter—began his training with the South Eastern Virginia Arts Association at the age of 6. He furthered his education at the Governor’s School for the Performing Arts. After high school, Fenner was accepted into Morehouse College, where he received his B.A. in Drama. His previous shows include White Christmas, Carmen, and Anything Goes among many others. Eaddy is the son of Saundra Butcher of Roanoke, a member of The Links, Inc.
The Arts is one of five program facets of The Links, Inc. Throughout the United States, Links chapters, (including the Roanoke Chapter), partner with museums, symphonies, arts councils, educational institutes and corporations to support art programs, especially where there is a focus on artists of color. Kianna Price Wade chairs the Roanoke Chapter’s Arts Facet.
The Roanoke chapter is one of 282 chapters of The Links, one of the oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of women who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry.
