TRUTH is defined simply as “the quality or state of being true,”— easily acceptable as such–except when running counter to one’s contumacious beliefs—commonly known as prejudice, “an emotional commitment to a falsehood that no amount of proof will alter.”
Another strange quality about truth is that few actually want to hear it. “Truth seems to be that value which is desired in the abstract but rejected when it does not conform to pre-conceived notions,” we find expressed by another writer. Then how could one who rejects truth be trusted, with trust defined as “firm belief in the reality, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something? “Truth, in the physical sciences, is ideally an ever-expanding replacement of lesser truths with newly-discovered higher truths,” states Dr. S.I Dean in his Baha’i Talks for all occasions.
Truth is not necessarily what we believe or are born into; nor, according to popular belief, is it divisible. So how can several hundred different sects of each religion claim to have their share of truth. What then is truth?
Truth, which includes both scientific and religious truths, is the life and pure teachings of the Manifestation of God in each New Day (that occurs millenniums apart). The new stage of mankind’s scientific, technological, psychological and mental maturity in this new era (less than 200 years old) attests to this truth. Such vast combined societal extremes, however, tend to result in spiritual decline. Enter here the trust factor on every level.
TRUST, defined as “firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability or strength of someone or something:”—is then what all true relationships must be built upon. Numerous are the Holy Writings on trustworthiness; among which we find:
*The virtues and attributes pertaining unto God are all evident and manifest and have been mentioned in all the heavenly Books; *trustworthiness, truthfulness, purity of heart while communing with God, forbearance, resignation to whatever the Almighty hath provided; patience, nay, thanklfulness in the midst of tribulations, and complete reliance in all circumstances upon Him; *Be fair to yourself and to others, that the evidences of justice may be revealed through your deeds among Our faithful servants. *Beware lest ye encroach upon the substance of your neighbor. Prove yourself worthy of his trust and confidence in you and withhold not from the poor the gifts which the grace of God hath bestowed upon you—(and teach all posterity to do the same)!
Through recent years in particular we have witnessed rapid advancement in the sciences as old truths continue to give way to new truths which yield in turn to yet newer truths.
In this New Day of God we are each charged to “Let your vision be world-embracing, rather than confined to your own self… That one indeed is a man who, today, dedicateth himself to the service of the entire human race”—one heart at a time. (Investigate! – 1-800-22unite)
