Dr. Beth A.Brown, a native of Roanoke, is featured in the February 17 edition of EBONY Magazine. Dr.Brown attended Roanoke City Public schools and was valedictorian of the William Fleming High School class of 1987. She graduated Summa cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Howard University with a BS degree in Astrophysics and received her Masters and Ph.D degrees from the University of Michigan.
In the feature article, “In My Lifetime,” Dr. Jedidah Isler remembers the brilliance of Dr. Beth Brown and recalls how the late NASA trailblazer reminded her that she, too, could reach the stars.
Dr. Brown was an astrophysicist at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center at the time of her sudden death in October, 2008. She was the daughter of Frances Blaney Brown and the late Robert W. Brown. She is also survived by her brother, Larry W. Brown and his family.
