Embrace Smith’s triumphs and accomplishments with Family-Fun event
BLACKSBURG — Celebrate the life of Carol Crawford Smith with a family-themed event highlighting Smith’s book Give Take Be and ten-year anniversary of her feature on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The event will take place March 26, 2016 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at The Lyric Theatre. The event includes a Carol Crawford Smith book signing and book sale starting at 12:30 p.m. and continuing through two back-to-back screenings of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition from 1- 4 pm.
Former dancer with the Dance Theatre of Harlem, Carol Crawford Smith has lived a life full of giving and receiving love despite the struggles she has faced. At the young age of 14, She was accepted into the prestigious Dance Theatre of Harlem, and was instantly swept into a big city filled with a luminous childhood of glamor and artistic romance. Years later, heartbreak set in for Smith with a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis in 2000. Not only did she lose her strength to dance, but also her independence.
Following her passion and despite her adversity, she continued to operate her dance studio, The Center of Dance, fueling others’ passion for dance long after she could not. Furthering that passion towards writing, Smith offers a unique take on life with breathtaking highs and catastrophic lows in her autobiographical story, Give Take Be.
