SALEM – The Salem-Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce Office is once again kicking off the kite season with the 18th Annual Blue Ridge Kite Festival. On Saturday, April 16, from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., the skies of Green Hill Park will be filled with kites, as the Richmond Air Force Kite Club dazzles the crowd with enormous handmade kites and extraordinary flying stunts.
Food Vendors include: Hawaiian Shaved Ice, Reddy Ice, Homestead Creamery, The Wacky Tomatoe, United Christians Inner- City Ministry, Kona Ice, R/J Concessions, Grub on the run, International Grill, Snack Time, Papa Johns
Arts and Craft Vendors include: Fantasy Face Painting, Crystals Unique Collection, The Beach Shop, Wood Phoenix Studio, Lilla Rose by KellamKlips, Sentimental Art, Scenty Katie Schlake, Misty Mountain Wares
Admission and parking to this event are free for this perfect weekend activity for the whole family. Come enjoy the variety of food, arts, crafts and corporate vendors; relax on the lawn or test your kite flying skills. There will be a limited number of free t-shirts and kites available for children.
Come see why thousands of kite enthusiasts from throughout the East Coast travel to Green Hill Park year after year. Due to safety issues, the pets need to stay home on festival day and all children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
