Two $1,000.00 awards will be given to qualifying local area high school students who demonstrate need will be judged on their academic standing, personal achievement, community involvement, and there (3) letters of recommendation from members of the school administration and/or teachers and one (1) character reference.
To more fully publicize these scholarships and increase application demand from the local high school Guidance Coordinators. The Boule is publicity release on our scholarships. Local high school Guidance Coordinators will receive official application materials the week of April 5, 2016. For a student to be considered, the committee must receive all of the required information by May 4. Awards will be announced to the recipients’ on/or before May 19. The awards will be celebrated with recipients and their families during a private organizational dinner meeting on Thursday, June 2.

The Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity (The Boule), is the oldest Greek-letter fellowship for predominately African American men. The fraternity began in 1904 in Philadelphia, PA and has 108 Subordinate Boules in the U.S. and the Bahamas. The local organization was founded in 1983 and is known as the Roanoke-Lynchburg, Virginia Beta Phi chapter of the Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity.
