Truth or Consequences is the name of a popular game show many years ago that had humorous consequences for those who could not come up with truthful answers to the questions asked. Not so humorous are the consequences of the absence of truth in too many of today’s most influential agencies, institutions and administrative orders.
Truth appears to be that virtuous quality sought for—as long as it conforms to pre-conceived notions and emotions. We are challenged in this new era of transition (that prioritizes deeds before words) to first “Be true to yourselves and to others” that the evidences may be made manifest through you.-”–It will then follow as the day the night; Thou canst not then be false to anyone,” according to the wisdom of William Shakespear.*
For many centuries since the infancy of mankind men have been conditioned to follow the vain imaginings, idle fancies, interpretations and explorations of others while formal institutions of education became institutions of indoctrination instead, in which thinking, questioning or consultation had no part. Through the incubators of such process grow various kinds- of prejudice–through which tolerance, although distasteful to many, can begin a critical process toward understanding and love.
Truth is of various kinds, however–absolute, variable and relative and, when inclusive of both science and religion, becomes the pure teachings of the successive Manifestations of One God occurring throughout time (usually centuries apart) to address the changing requirements of a maturing mankind according to the exigencies of each stage of growth.
The diets and other needs of an infant are insufficient for an older child whose needs would likewise be incompatible with those of an adult. Mankind no exception.
Also unique to childhood is unawareness of its spiritual reality that unfortunately remains dormant with far too many adults. Therefore tests and hardships do not come to us by chance, we are apprised in the Baha’i Holy Writings for a new maturity of mankind. They are sent to us for our own perfecting for when a man is happy then will he forget his God. We are also advised to accustom ourselves (and especially our children) to hardships to strengthen our weaknesses in order to become better prepared for whatever may befall us.
In the spiritual world the past, present and future are all one. In this transitory physical world, however, man, the Creator’s highest and most intellectual creation, through limited perception has separated the three. Therefore the past is quickly forgotten, grossly affecting each fleeting present moment, drastically weakening future hopes and stability—the current race for the President of this highly influential nation’s highest office a prime example. Spirituality and common sense should dictate that the candidate with the most professional political experience (at home and abroad!) would be the most logical choice at this critical stage of mankind’s warring mentality throughout the world!
God simplifies, man complicates; God unites through love; man divides through hate. God is the Author of peace; man is the author of war and carnage.
Indelible will ever be the wisdom of a Native American being interviewed at the end of a documentary on their plight. To the question asked about his religion he replied stone faced: “Religion is one thing. Spirituality is another. Religion is what you get when you’re scares to go to hell. Spiritually is what you get when you’ve been there.”
Therefore we appeal to mankind’s simple logic at this critical stage of maturation for: “We hold these truths to be self evident, that ALL men are created equal…” regardless of nationality—in this nation or in any other we may choose to take sides within—without United National consultation and mutual agreement, incorporated in the Holy GPS of this new Revelation for modern mankind! We cannot continue to ignore Truth without consequences! (Investigate! 1-800-22-unite)
