As we approach the end of June, the half-way mark of the Gregorian year, and Nur, the fifth month of the 19-month Baha’i calendar year–both indicating Light, we are reminded of other common denominators. Along with incorporating the longest day of daylight within the calendar year, June also signifies the gathering of families and other close associates through vacations and other various summer activities.
A primary observance in the Baha’i Revelation is the observance of Race Unity Day, an occasion held in mid June that brings together people of goodwill of various races and religions to help overcome and respect, rather than merely tolerate our differences.
There are those who believe that world peace is an impossible dream while others perceive its accomplishment through unity, rather than the other way around. But history continues to prove beyond any doubt that it can never come through war–which breeds only generations of international and intra-tional hatred, resentment and retaliation. The knowledge of this reality becomes more apparent with time, yet the volition to act upon such reason remains unattainable for various political reasons.
It is therefore incumbent upon members of all races and religions (or of no religion) to become more proactive of our own volition, taking responsibility for our own attitudes and actions, neither blaming nor awaiting leadership in some cases. If you break the word responsibility into 2 parts you get response and ability. Proactive people develop the ability to choose their response, making them more a product of their values and decisions than of their moods and conditions. The results, you become a light, not a judge; a model, not a critic, feeding opportunities while starving problems; keeping promises rather than making excuses.
As we approach the climax of the most disgraceful presidential election in this nations history, allow us to again introduce to some and remind others of the totally new electoral process already in progress for nearly a century.
Yet to be studied by today’s local, state, national and world leaders is knowledge of an electoral system with …*No campaigns preceding all political elections!–needing *No money for campaigning! And upon being elected to serve on local, state, national or even international governing bodies, *receiving neither title nor monetary compensation for the honor of having been elected (through prayer and ballot only) to serve the best interest of all of the people under your jurisdiction (collectively, the world!)–with no mention of names allowed in any way. *Can you imagine not only trusting and respecting these elected officials but actually loving them and the respective institutions they represent? This is the embryonic nucleus of the model electoral system of World Peace–by the Divinely orchestrated GPS of a new world order. Until such order materializes, however, please continue to VOTE in local, State and National elections for the most perceived desirable candidates to facilitate peace and goodwill among the peoples of the world!
