In the Holy Bible we read, “For everything there is a season and a time for everything under the heaven: A time to be born and a time to die . . .”
Could this very well be the season and time for giant steps in the death of inherent racial and gender prejudices that have plagued this youthful nation and the world for centuries?
What an estimable blessing for those of us witnessing the miracles of two major inherent political prejudices within this comparatively new nation- in recent years.
First the election of a President of these United States of other than Caucasian heritage now approaching the end of his second historical term of office. Secondly, this followed by nomination of the first female President to succeed him!
Historically, certain races have assumed themselves to be superior to others and have taken for granted, on the principle of “survival of the fittest,” that this superiority gives them the right to exploit for their own advantage or even to exterminate, weaker races. Many of the blackest pages in the world’s history are examples of the pitiless application of this principle that continues to date.
According to the Baha’i Holy Writings for this new Day of God, “Concerning the prejudice of race, it is an illusion, a superstition pure and simple for God created all of One race–the human race!
Territorial wars are equally fruitless as land belongs to no man! We’re all passing over it. According to the Holy Writings of this Day, “Land is not your home, simply your tomb.”
Equally erroneous are political and patriotic prejudices. The time has obviously come (through constant development of science and technology) when narrow national patriotisms must be merged into wider patriotism whose country is the world! (The injury of each, the injury of all! The comfort of one, the comfort of all!”) When the hearts of men are united through love and spiritual (as opposed to material) bonds, the whole human race will be uplifted, warfare and strife will be uprooted, disagreement and dissension pass away and universal peace will unite the nations and peoples of the world for, “So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth!” (Investigate! – 1-800-22-UNITE)
