Roanoke Valley Sports Club will have two meetings in August this year with Craig Littlepage, University of Virginia’s athletic director, being the featured speaker at the Club’s Tuesday, Aug. 16 meeting and with Desiree Reed-Francois, Virginia Tech’s deputy athletic director, as featured speaker at the Club’s Tuesday, August 23 meeting.
Both meetings will be held at Roanoke Country Club, beginning at 5:45 p.m. with the dinner at 6:00 p.m. and speaker at 6:45 p.m.
Littlepage, a graduate of University of Pennsylvania, became Athletic Director for the Cavaliers in August 2001, being the first African-American athletic director in the Atlantic Coast Conference history. He also served as Virginia’s assistant athletics director, associate director of athletics and senior associate director of athletics from 1990 to 2001.
Before beginning his career in athletics administration, Littlepage served as assistant coach with Cavaliers men’s basketball program for six years, and he held head coaching positions at University of Pennsylvania for three years and Rutgers for three years.
Reed-Francois became the deputy athletics director for Virginia Tech on June 1, 2016. She came to the Hokies in May 2014 serving as executive associate athletics director and senior woman administrator. Prior to Virginia Tech assignments, she served as associate athletic director for University of Tennessee (2008-2012) and interim director of athletics for University of Cincinnati (2012-2014). In 1994, she graduated from UCLA and later from the University of Arizona College of Law. She is a member of the California Bar and taught law classes at Tennessee and Santa Clara prior to getting involved in sports administration in 2008.
