First Sergeant Airan H. Atkinson retired from the military with full honors on August 21, 2016. He entered the army on active duty status June 26, 1996 as a Signal System Support Specialist.
During his 20-year career he had combat tours in Kuwait, Iraq and Afganistain. In addition, he had four overseas and many stateside assignments.
1SG (Ret.) Atkinson and his family have lived in Texas, Germany, Hawaii, California and in Georgia where they have made their home. He and his devoted wife Latonya Johnson Atkinson are the proud parents of 2 sons: A. Dejon Atkinson, a college junior, and KaRon H. Atkinson a college freshman.
Over the course of 20 years, 1SG (Ret.) Atkinson received numerous accommodations including: a Bronze Star which he received in combat.
His very proud and grateful parents are Calvin E. Clay and Pamela Atkinson-Clay. He is the son-in-law of Marshall and Henrietta Johnson.
