On Friday, Nov 11, as our nation observed Veterans Day, a total stranger, with the assistance of a local friend, presented WWII Veteran Ulas N. Broady with a unique gift in recognition of his service rendered during his tour of duty in the European field following the D-Day Invasion.
This 91-year-old veteran was drafted into the U.S. Army 73 years ago at the age of 18, and 6 months later became a soldier who served in France, England and Germany for 21 months.
Due to the respect and gratitude of a total stranger (and friend Sherlene Bowles), this WWII veteran now can snuggle in his favorite chair under a beautiful, handmade coverlet and pillow which remind him of his experiences as a soldier, the perils of war and his blessings to be free. The expression, “Thank You for Your Service” now has a special meaning in a tangible way for him.
Rev. Broady, his family and friends are humbled by this gift and deeply appreciative to 2 “angels of veterans” for honoring him for his military service during WWII.
