“VALS Around the World” will be the theme when the Past Presidents of VALS (the association for legal professionals) host VALS 55th Annual Convention and the 2017-2018 First Board of Governors Meeting, April 27-30 at the Holiday Inn Tanglewood, 4468 Starkey Rd, in SW. Activities will begin on Thursday with “Paint Night” (optional) and a Hospitality Suite from 7:00 -10:00 p.m. and conclude on Sunday with VALS First Board of Governors Meeting for 2017-2018. A Certification Luncheon follows morning seminars from noon to 1:15 pm, (optional) or lunch on your own. Seminars continue from 1:30 – 4:00 p.m. Friday’s Welcome Party is the first port of call for “VALS Around the World,” off to Germany for Oktoberfest. Come in your favorite dirndl or lederhosen or other German dress for the costume party with a prize for the best Oktoberfest outfit.
The General Assembly of VALS 55th Annual Meeting will be held April 29, registration will be from 7:30 – 9:00 a.m. with delegate check-in from 8:30 – 9:00 a.m. Exhibitors and Crafters will be present throughout the day. Our trip around the world will find us in Hollywood for the Academy Awards luncheon at 12:30 p.m. followed by the conclusion of the General Assembly. The destination for VALS for Saturday evening’s installation of officers is “An Evening in Paris.” Come in your finest eveningwear for VALS 55th Annual Installation Ceremony and Dinner from 6:30 p.m. until 11:00 p.m.
VALS First Board of Governors Meeting for 2017-2018 will take place in “The Caribbean,” our last port of call for our trip around the world. We begin our last day with a buffet breakfast and with door prizes and raffle drawings beginning at 8:00 a.m., followed by the first board of governors’ meeting at which time the governors and committee chairmen will be given their oath of office.
Scrip tickets are $135 for members and $145 for non-members. Hotel reservations can be made directly with the Holiday Inn Tanglewood. The convention registration should be made payable to “VALS Convention 2017” and sent to Linda Thomas at 2554 Back Acres Road, Virginia, Beach, Virginia 23454.
