The Roanoke Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. held its monthly chapter meeting at the Pilgrim Baptist Church Complex on Saturday, March 10, 2018. In celebration of Delta Sisterhood Month, the Membership Services Committee recognized all Roanoke Chapter Delta Dears. (The acronym “DEARS” stands for Dedicated, Experienced, Active, Respected, Sorors) who are 62 years of age or older and are honored because of their wisdom, grace, fortitude and service.
This year Andrea Chubb was presented a 25-Year Plaque from the National Headquarters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. by the local chapter president.
Upcoming Delta events include: * Jabberwock 2018 (A Tribute to MOTOWN) on Friday, April 20, at 7:30 pm in the Jefferson Center’s Shaftman Performance Hall; * Deltas’ 3rd Annual Sister 2 Sister Women’s Empowerment Workshop on Saturday, May 5; * Educational Development Committee’s Celebration of Youth Night at Addison Middle School on Friday, May 18, and * Political Awareness and Involvement Committee’s Lecture Series will presents, “Voting: Our Civic Duty with presenter, Nikki Giovanni, poet, writer, commentator, activist and Educator on Wednesday, May 23, at the Harrison Museum of African-American Culture.
Following the meeting, a potluck reception was held to honor all Delta Dears.
