The Roanoke Chapter of The Links, Inc. paused in the midst of midyear retreat at the Acorn Lodge to remember the Life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. While enjoying the fellowship of friendship and sisterhood, they reflected on the motto of Dr. King ‘If I can help somebody as I pass along, then my living will not be in vain.”
The Link ladies decided to give back to their community with donations of items for the patients of a local nursing home. The chapter members have completed many community service projects during their 63 years of service however this year’s retreat allowed the chapter to really realize how blessed they are to be able to carry on Dr. King’s Legacy of giving back. President Connie Steele, along with other members, presented the items and expressed the joy each felt as they assembled the bags of gifts.
