ALEXANDER, VA – Alexander City Public Schools (ACPS) has earned the 2016 Annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award from the National Procurement Institute, Inc. (NPI). It is the first time that ACPS has received this highly regarded distinction.
The award recognizes organizational excellence in procurement based on innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity, and leadership as relates to the procurement process. These criteria are designed to measure state of the art in best practices.
“Congratulations to Chief Financial Officer Stacey Johnson, director of Procurement Sharon Lewis, and the Financial Services team on receiving this exceptional honor”, “the award exemplifies our commitment to excellence as outlined in the ACPS 2020 goal of Effective and Efficient Operations. It represents national recognition of the team’s efforts to maximize resources and compete our dollars to get the best prices and best quality on behalf of our school division and the entire community.” ACPS is one of only nine agencies in Virginia and one of only 23 School Districts in the United States and Canada to receive the award. The procurement team will be recognized at an award ceremony at the NPI national conference this fall.
“This award really highlights the hard work of our team”, said Johnson. Our procurement processes have continually evolved to ensure fair and open competition for all goods and services, compliance with regulatory requirements and exceptional service for our staff and vendor community. Even with this honor, we continue to strive for excellence to better support the learning environment and educational program for each and every student. We are so proud to have the team’s efforts recognized with this prestigious award.”
