The Beta Chi Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. recently awarded scholarships to seven 2016 high school graduates.
The recipients are: from Salem High School, Curtis Staples, who plans to attend Stanford University, and Jordan Owens, who plans to attend James Madison University; from Hidden Valley High School: Sarah Chen, who plans to attend The College of William and Mary and Krithika Arrabothu who plans to attend University of Virginia; Khalilah Cuff, graduate of Franklin County High School who plans to attend Radford University; Jassmyn Paxton, graduate of Northside High School, who plans to attend James Madison University; and Olivia Kitt, graduate of Patrick Henry High School, who plans to attend Roanoke College.
The Scholarship Committee was chaired by Treasure Staples. Pamela Edwards serves as the chapter president.
