Beta Chi Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. kicked off its busy fall season on Saturday, Sept. 8 with a joint chapter meeting with the undergraduate chapters it sponsors at Radford University, Virginia Tech, and Washington and Lee Universities.
The three undergraduate chapters are hosting the Mid-Atlantic Region’s “Undergraduate Roundup” in Roanoke on September 28-29. The participating chapter presidents are serving as co-chairs of the conference with Beta Chi Omega members serving as advisors. Recently-elected Mid-Atlantic Regional Director Jennifer King Congleton will preside over the event which expects to have over 500 sorority members in attendance.
The Mid-Atlantic region includes Virginia and North Carolina, which has 48 AKA undergraduate chapters. International Second Supreme Vice President, Kasey Coleman will be the keynote speaker.
In addition to planning for this event, Beta Chi Omega will also sponsor a children’s activity at the Henry Street Festival and will also help with the GW Carver Community Garden in September.
Presiding over Saturday’s joint meeting was Pamela Edwards, Beta Chi Omega’s president; Asia Smith, Theta Chi’s (Radford) president; Ann Marie Mingle-Taylor, Theta Phi’s (Virginia Tech) president; and Makayla Lorick, Tau Zeta’s (W&L) president. Cleopatra Kitt serves as Graduate Advisor.
