A wonderful celebration took place on Saturday, May 14, as Tyler Marie Wilson became Little Miss Ivy 2016 at Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Omicron Gamma Omega Chapter, Little Miss Ivy Pageant held at the Baltimore Washington International Marriott in Linthicum Heights, MD.
Tyler Marie is a 7-year old second grade student in the Howard County Public School System. She has an outgoing charisma and genuinely cares about helping others. In the pageant, Tyler showcased her talent gracefully performing a liturgical dance to the song “We Must Praise.” In her introduction, she shared her favorite quote: “Treat others the way you would want to be treated.”
Tyler is the daughter of Tyanna Wilson, Columbia, MD and the late Jason Roberts. Her grandmother is Judith Dowe Roberts (DC); great grandmother, Geraldine Dowe Whaley, Douglas C. Dowe, Alfred Dowe Sr. and Altha Dowe, all from Roanoke.
Tyler was escorted by Kimball Joseph Snell (Waldorf, MD) son of Jeremy and Kim Snell, and grandson of Joseph Jr. and Deborah Snell of Chevy Chase, Md. Kimball also has relatives in Roanoke and Radford.
The Little Miss Ivy Pageant “Launching Future Pearls,” is a bi-annual event that raises scholarship funds to high school seniors who seek to advance their education. After the Little Miss Ivy pageant, the contestants become Ivy Girls. Omicron Gamma Omega Sorors will continue to support and mentor the young ladies as well as show them the meaning of providing community service while they flourish into educated and extraordinary young women. Tyler will reign as Little Miss Ivy through 2018.
