New Horizons Healthcare Expands Services
New Horizons Healthcare has recently opened a satellite clinic at 1215 Third Street in SW Roanoke. The site offers primary medical care for children and adults in the Smyth M. Meador Building, owned by CHIP of Roanoke Valley, and co-located with CHIP’s Counseling Center.
“I am delighted to formally announce the opening of this second location for New Horizons Healthcare, in a convenient location close to downtown Roanoke,” said Eileen G. Lepro, CEO of New Horizons Healthcare. “Our health center is committed to improved primary care access for all, regardless of age, income, or insurance status. This additional site will bring our services to many more individuals and families in need in the Roanoke community.”
The medical providers at “New Horizons on Third” are accepting new patients. Maria Soriano, MD, pediatrician sees children from newborns through age 18, and Beverly Forry, PA-C, physician assistant, serves older children and adults. The clinic will offer primary and preventive care, screenings, immunizations, wellness exams, chronic disease management, sick visits, and follow-up care for emergency room and hospital discharges. Patients who frequent Third Street as their “medical home” can also access New Horizons services for behavioral health assessment, counseling, and psychiatric treatment, pharmacy and medication assistance services, dental services, and care coordination and education, all of which are offered through the main site at 3716 Melrose Ave. NW.
“In 2015, our health center on Melrose Avenue provided more than 23,000 patient visits,” said Tim Steller, Chairman, New Horizons Healthcare. “Opening another site in Roanoke will improve access for children and adults who reside a greater distance from our Melrose facility. This also enhances collaboration with our partners at CHIP of Roanoke Valley and Bradley Free Clinic who are our neighbors in this new location.”
Health centers serve more than 23 million people nationwide (1 in 15 Americans), including 7 million children and 260,000 veterans. Health centers are also increasingly becoming the trusted provider of choice for many families, regardless of whether or not they are insured. Evidence shows patients choose health centers due to their convenience, affordability, and range of quality services provided by a team of caring professionals. Health centers rely on a mix of federal and local funding, as well as insurance reimbursement and patient fees, to continuously meet the growing demand of Americans needing access to affordable health care.
New Horizons Healthcare has expanded over the years to provide a range of services for all ages: primary health care; behavioral medicine, counseling and case management; pharmacy and medication assistance; oral health services; health education and chronic disease self-management; care coordination, and assistance with insurance enrollment under the Affordable Care Act.
Those interested in making an appointment at either location may call 540-362-0360, ext. 21300 for the Third Street location specifically.
