The Roanoke Chapter Chums, Inc. recently elected the following new officers: Everlene Brandon, president; Francine McLaughlin, vice president; Rosemary Mitchener, treasurer; Sandra Claytor, recording secretary; Carolyn Barrett, corresponding secretary and Janice Burks, parliamentarian.
The Chums also installed new member Dawn Board and welcomed Chum Saundra Butcher who relocated here from the Norfolk Chapter.
The Roanoke Chums celebrated its 50th anniversary in March 2015. The grand event was held at the Holiday Inn Airport with over 150 guests in attendance. High compliments are still being receiving on that celebration.
The Chums national mandate, “Listen to the Children,” is being observed by the local chapter through annual contributions to Northwest Child Development Center, Apple Ridge Farm, and donations to needy families at Thanksgiving and other holidays. Each June and September the Chums host a pot-luck picnic with the support of the dedicated Hums and special guests.
