The Franklin County School Board recognizes Ms. Penny A. Blue with the Community Service Award as a Special Thank You and Congratulations for:
• The Knowledge and the Perceptions needed to accomplish the tasks of the Franklin County School Board during this time in our history of great diversity;
• The Courage to withstand the unnecessary abuse and attacks by fellow Board Members;
• The Integrity to Stand, even when standing alone to fight for our children;
• The Confidence to create a path for the next African American At-Large Member of the Board to Stand for “Right” and “Truth;”
• The Strength to speak Truth to Power;
• The Tolerance for enduring the ambiguities of those still living in the past;
• The Intrusive Caring necessary to build and sustain a safe and thriving learning environment for all of our children; and
• The Endurance to discern the leadership required, in a necessary but lonely assignment, in gaining acceptance of this educational innovation.
