National Campaign Celebrates the Key to Healthier Communities
Over 500 events around the country are planned as part of National Health Center Week (NHCW). The national campaign runs August 13-19 with the goal of raising awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s Health Centers over the course of more than five decades.
One of the bright spots in America’s health care system, Community Health Centers serve more than 25 million Americans, a number that continues to grow along with the demand for affordable primary care. They have compiled a significant record of success that includes: *Producing $24 billion in annual health system savings; *Reducing unnecessary hospitalizations and unnecessary visits to the emergency room; *Treating patients for a fraction of the average cost of one emergency room visit; *Maintaining patient satisfaction levels of nearly 100 percent and Serving more than one in six Medicaid beneficiaries for less than two percent of the national Medicaid budget.
New Horizons Healthcare joins in the national celebration with various team-building activities for staff members throughout the week. The public is also invited to drop-in to learn more about the services offered, chat with Center leaders, enjoy some refreshments and take a tour of the headquarters facility at 3716 Melrose Ave. during the following dates and times: Monday, Aug. 14, 3-4pm.; Wednesday, Aug. 16, 11 – noon; Friday, Aug. 16, 12:00 – 1:00pm.
A free kick-off event for National Health Center Week takes place Wednesday, Aug. 9, at 5:00pm at New Horizons Healthcare.
