The Altruist Club of Roanoke will present its 66th Debutante Ball on Friday, Dec. 27 at the Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center with eight young women are participating as Debutantes this year.
Riley Woods, a senior at Patrick Henry High School is the daughter of Kareem and Heather Woods. She is escorted by Edward S. Murphy, Jr., a freshman at Patrick Henry High School, and son of Edward, Sr. and Bisby Murphy. Riley is sponsored by Manns Counseling Services of Roanoke. Her Lady-in-Waiting is Ryan Woods.
Kameron Washington-Brown, is a senior at William Fleming High School and is the daughter of Johnny and QuoVadis Brown. Her escorted is Micah Jones, a sophomore at William Fleming HS, and is the son of Leonard, III and Verna Hoapili-Jones. Kameron is sponsored by The Roanoke Branch of the NAACP. Her Lady-In-Waiting is Kacelia Ferrell.
La’Sha James, a senior at William Fleming High School and is the daughter of Marlena James-Bolden. She is escorted by Samuel B. Za’Nya Jones, a senior William Fleming High School, and the daughter of Dreama Boyd and Patrick Jones. Wanina Craighead, a senior at William Fleming High School and is the niece of Deborah Penn-Robinson. During the six plus decades of this event, more than $250,000 in scholarships and grants have been awarded to more than 2,000 debutantes.
