For nearly 30 years, the Richmond Alumnae Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has hosted “Delta Day at the Virginia General Assembly.”
Designed to increase the members’ involvement in the public policy-making process, Delta Day at the Virginia General Assembly on January 26, 2015 continues to provide an opportunity for members to engage with their respective legislators, to hear from key policy makers and to fellowship with Deltas from across the state of Virginia.
This year, the Roanoke Alumnae Chapter had five participants: Gloria Manns, Helen Dean, Connie Steele, Trish White-Boyd and Diane Jones, chapter president,. Dressed in red, the Deltas also received greetings and took a photo with Governor Terrence McAuliffe.
A highlight of the event was an outstanding message from The Honorable Dr. Dietra Trent, Virginia Deputy Secretary of Education and the recognition given to Patricia White-Boyd, Roanoke Alumnae’s Political Action co-chair for her appointment by the Governor of Virginia to the Higher Education Board.
