DePaul Community Resources is excited to announce Kate Means has been promoted to Chief Engagement Officer. This position is new for the organization, a combination of the Vice President of Marketing and Development and the Chief of Staff. In her new role, Ms. Means will lead marketing and development efforts, improve communication processes for the organization, engage external stakeholders, and shape the future of DePaul’s advocacy efforts.
“Kate Means has proven to be a tremendous asset to DePaul, and this provides an opportunity for us to benefit in an increased capacity from her skills,” said Renee Brown, DePaul president, and CEO.
Means earned her master’s degree in social service administration from the University of Chicago. Since that time, she has dedicated her professional career to social services in the Commonwealth. In addition, to experience providing and supervising direct services, Means has supported the administrative capacities of DePaul for many years and has served on several community boards.
“I look forward to inviting our community members to join DePaul’s vision of opening doors to hope and belonging for the individuals with developmental disabilities, children, and families of our state,” said Means.
For almost 46 years, DePaul Community Resources has worked to open doors to hope and belonging for children, families, and individuals with unique challenges across Central and Southwest Virginia. Over the years, DePaul has grown to become one of Virginia’s largest nonprofit foster care, adoption, and developmental disabilities services organizations, with 13 service locations statewide, more than 150 staff, and a network of over 400 care providers, foster and adoptive parents, and a host of volunteers and advocates. The work of hope and belonging is bigger than social work—it is work that builds communities, strengthens economies, supports health, and renews promise. For children and families, DePaul ensures safety, promotes permanency, facilitates healing, and supports independence. For individuals with developmental disabilities, DePaul works to support personal choice, promote individual growth, and increase social inclusion to improve quality of life.
