Kemba Smith Pradia, domestic abuse survivor, author and women’s advocate, will speak at Roanoke College, Colket Center, Wortmann Ballroom on March 22 at 7 p.m. She will be the keynote speaker in the annual Women’s Forum event at the college.
Similar to millions of women who are currently in abusive relationships, Kemba Smith Pradia never imagined herself involved with a partner who could become physically abusive. She speaks openly about her personal relationship with a drug dealer during her freshman year in college and how she experienced physical, mental and emotional abuse disguised as love. Pradia’s message is real and raw. She speaks of empowerment, anti-violence, domestic abuse and pathways to positive choices.
Roanoke area chapters of Alpha Delta Kappa, an International Organization for Women Educators, and the Roanoke City Youth Services Citizens Board will sponsor a reception following the event, which is open and free to the public. Tickets are not required.
There will be a book signing after the event in the atrium of the Colket Center. Copies of Poster Child by Kemba Smith will be on sale.
