Christmas shopping takes a unique twist at 2nd Helpings Gallery in November, as two artists join forces for a special exhibit. Smith Mountain Lake artist Nancy Erikson brings her works of fused glass, including her wildly popular handmade holiday ornaments and nightlights. She will also premiere several colorful art pieces that are sure to make exquisite gifts this season.
Erikson will meet and greet customers and art enthusiasts on Saturday, November 14 during the Featured Artist Reception at 2nd helpings. She will be sharing the stage with Ricky Simpson, a live-action nature photographer from the Lynchburg area. Simpson’s interest in capturing motion started with photographing sports events, which he still documents for both high school and collegiate sports. For the last several years, however, his specialty has been birds in flight, which are among the most challenging subjects to photograph.
‘Translucens’ will be on display the entire month of November at 2nd Helpings Gallery. This event is free and open to the public with 2nd Helpings Café providing complimentary refreshments.
