One of the 2019 Community Service Project recipients of The Girl Friends, Inc. Roanoke Chapter is Roanoke Redevelopment and Housing Authority’s Melrose Towers site, an independent living facility that provides housing for the elderly and disabled, chosen for the outstanding and exemplary service they provide to the community.
As the initial part of the ongoing project, to continue throughout the year, The Girl Friends, Inc. presented two shopping carts of household, self-safe food along with personal and other items to Melrose Towers Activity Coordinator, Ms. Barbara James. Additionally, a check for bus passes was also donated. The Activity Coordinator will use the donated items in activities with the residents.
