Troop #507 Girl Scouts are excited to be working on a Silver Award Project that supports our local community. The girls have laid out the plans to revitalize and beautify an area at the Gainsboro YMCA by cleaning, planting, mulching, installing bird houses, a seating area, and a butterfly garden.
The YMCA is a Christian non-profit organization that provides programs for healthy spirits, minds, and bodies for all. Also provided is reasonable day care through their Y-After school and Summer Programs.
The girls working on their Girl Scout Silver Awards are Alexis Evans, Cecilia Maiolo, and Darcy Yates. The Silver Award Advisor for Troop #507 is Jamie Yates-Merit. It is the troop’s goal to complete this project by Labor Day this year.
The girls are uprising 8th and 9th graders who have been together since kindergarten under the leadership of Amy Maiolo. Troop 507 meets at the Gainsboro YMCA.
