Congratulations to Andre D. Oliver who graduated from the Cardinal Criminal Justice Academy on Wednesday, Oct. 26. He completed an intensive ten-week curriculum that prepares him for employment as a Deputy Sheriff in Roanoke City.
Deputy Oliver was a member of the 61st Entry Level Jailor/Court Services class. He was selected as class president. In this role, he was an advocate for the class, making sure that class members had the information needed to graduate.
As class president, he gave remarks at the graduation ceremony on behalf of the class and thanked Instructors from the Academy for their support and for providing learning experiences that will make them competent and safe on the job. Deputy Oliver was pinned and saluted by his uncle, Duane E. Rigby, Virginia State Trooper.
Deputy Oliver is the son of Dexter Oliver and the late Shawn Rigby. As a new law enforcement officer, he believes in service to his community and in making a positive impact in the lives of others.
