I am writing this from my bed. I am sick. I am not happy as I pride myself on living a fairly healthy lifestyle. Someone gave me a bug and I shall not rat that person out, as I am already on the road to recovery. I just want to share a few tips with you so you will not share my fate.
Vomiting is not a good look on anyone. Sorry, I could not resist.
Here are some tips, that I hope will help all of us to stay healthier during this upcoming season:
• Drink plenty of water. We can do this, it may not taste as good as juice but it is better for us.
• Eat healthy, this includes fruits and vegetables-these are thethings that keep the body moving if you know what I mean. If we are not having good bowel movements chances are we are not as healthy as we should be. Try to do your best to reduce the white stuff out of your diet—white rice, white potatoes, white bread and white sugar.
• Get your sunlight people! Contrary to what some people say, this is the best form of Vitamin D and the easiest way to get it is take a walk. If you must use sunscreen, then do it. We are not all the same.
• Exercise!!!!! We have got to move it. Dance if it’s the only movement you are willing to do and you can do this at home. Just break a sweat for it to count. Remember check with your doctor if it has been a while since you have exercised.
• Make sure you get enough rest. You cannot run a car without gas, so why are you trying to work your body without rest. No job is worth getting sick for. You will quickly find out you are replaceable.
• Be aware of whom you are around—Stop hugging!!! If someone tells you they are sick. Take that as a warning. If people are coughing and they are selling you food, it is time to exit. Cancel the order and run for cover.
• Wash your hands frequently. Do not assume everyone is as clean as you. Some people will wipe their nose with their hands and then they go on their merry way infecting everyone else. Keep wipes or sanitary gel handy for occasions when there is no water. Think of all the doors you will touch throughout the day. If you are running errands, pay attention. You will touch a door knob or handle and then touch your face without even thinking about it. You could now be infected! We won’t even talk about public restrooms, ladies you are my witness as to how disgusting the restrooms can be. Horror story in the making.
• Act as if you want to live. Do not take good health for granted. All it takes is one careless moment for even the healthiest person to get sick. We may bounce back faster than others but no one should be getting sick if they stay conscious of where they are and the people they are around. A few days of fast food lunches and dinners can wear down your immune system.
That’s it for now. I am going to make myself a nice hot drink of apple juice, onions, garlic, lemon, honey and cayenne and then take a nap. Hey, don’t knock it until you have tried it. It tastes a lot better than it sounds.
Stay healthy. Twa-la.
