Jefferson Center, Roanoke’s renowned performing arts, education, and cultural engagement center, is pleased to announce its 2023-2024 Performance Season. This upcoming season, the historic venue will be hosting a dynamic array of more than 24 artists spanning genres of soul, jazz, bluegrass, rock, country, pop, afro-Columbian, and more. This diverse and inspiring lineup includes two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Legend Graham Nash and eight-time Grammy-winning Jazz bassist Christian McBride. In addition to well-known artists like Patty Griffin and Rufus Wainwright, they will be presenting up-and-coming performers such as jazz harpist Brandee Younger and country music rising star Morgan Myles. In keeping with the theme of expanded music offerings, Jefferson Center’s “Main Stage Jazz” series has changed its name to “Big Lick Vibes” to make room for not just traditional jazz, but also other modes and expression from the roots of improvisation.
“We are so excited to be able to pull together such a high caliber and broadly appealing mix of artists for Roanoke and all our neighbors,” says Programming Manager, Jamie Cheatwood. ”This is the ‘why’ behind Jefferson Center’s programming – giving opportunity for our community to embrace world-class, life-enriching performances right here in our very own valley, and making these shows as accessible as possible to everyone that lives here.”
In addition to the artists listed here at the season announcement, Jefferson Center says they already are in conversation with several other performers they anticipate adding to the roster throughout the season. “Look forward to hearing a steady rollout of even more amazing shows after we get started – the good news will just keep coming this year!” says Jamie.
Jefferson Center’s mission as a non-profit entity includes providing broad access to inspirational performing arts. They do this in part through more approachable ticket pricing for these world-class artists. In efforts to extend accessibility, this year a new section of “Platinum” seating was added and the lowest priced “Bronze” seating was expanded giving most all of our shows a lower cost entry point. The lower price of all tickets is also made possible in part by season sponsors Anderson Desimone & Green, P.C., Arkay, Kroger, The Roanoke Times, and WSLS.
Season renewals begin Tuesday, July 25th at 10 am, and the full season goes on sale to the public Thursday, August 10th at 10 am.
