On Sunday, June 29, the Mother’s Day Committee honored six Senior Ladies at Jerusalem Baptist Church during the morning worship service. The ladies were honored for their many years of dedicated service. Each lady was presented a plaque in recognition of the occasion.
Recognized were: Estelle McCadden, the daughter of the late former pastor William Hunter, has been a member of the church for 79 years serving in numerous capacities at the church including, president of the Sr. Missionary Circle and founder of the W. N. Hunter Chorus. She has also assisted with historical occasion and culinary events. Regina Peeks, assisted in the Youth Department and the Culinary Department of the church. She also served as the church secretary for a period of years. Deaconess Alice Johnson has served as a Sunday School teacher; as president of the Rose Browne Missionary Circle, and the Advisory Council, and a member of the Renovation Committee. Ola Manns is a member of the Sr. Missionary Circle, sang on the Senior Choir and continues to support the church. Mildred Fairfax is an emertius trustee and a continuous supporter of the Sunday School and the church. Sarah Evan (not pictured) was also recognized for her support of church activities including the music ministry. Sarah Oliver was committee chairlady. Rev. Floyd W. Gregory is pastor of the church located at 1014 Norfolk Ave.
